Real wedding

Yuli and Keith’s charming vintage-inspired wedding.

Couple and shoes

The bride’s brilliant shoes.

Head piece and photos

Yuli found her one-of-a-kind wood-vine crown on the crafting website Etsy. She further customized it by attaching hand-dyed silk ribbons at the back. They used a fishing net to display Polaroids of the couple.

Sign and place cards

Family and friends gathered days earlier for two full days of crafting and setup, putting up hand-painted signs.

Movie-ticket place cards, displayed in an antique Belgian creamery crate, corresponded with vintage movie posters identifying each table.

Centerpieces and guestbook

The resourceful couple used cross-sections of a trunk as centerpiece bases. These were topped with candles in vases decorated with lace, leather cord, hand-dyed silk ribbon and cedar-wood flowers.

Instead of signing a traditional guestbook, guests wrote notes to the couple on brightly colored address-file cards. Keeping with the handmade theme of the wedding, Yuli’s dad made the custom box. “So now when we write a letter and look up the address, we can also remember our wedding day as told by our friends – and admire my Dad’s handiwork!”

Envelope guest book

I could not resist the need to share this great idea with all of you! MarthaStewart.com describes how you can transform a store-bought album into a guest book that has a handmade feel. To make your guest book, just use double-sided tape to affix “recycled” envelopes in assorted sizes and colors to the pages of a plain-paper photo album or scrapbook. Leave “recycled” cards and a pen on a table for guests to write wishes. When they’re done, they can tuck their cards inside the envelopes for the bride and groom to enjoy later. Isn’t this adorable and so easy to do?
